The wheel of the year...a calendar of the 8 sabbats and their astrological associations, and a celebration of the seasons...
Familiar with it?
While the actual layout of the wheel of the year is relatively modern, the sabbats are not, especially the 4 major ones Beltane, Litha, Samhain, and Yule.
In history all 8 sabbats were not always celebrated, sometimes only the main 4, or those plus the addition of the 2 harvest sabbats Lughnasadh and Mabon that lead up to Samhain.
The sabbats are specials times of the year that represent the changing of the seasons, and the activities associated with that time of year.
There is far to much to write about to break them all down in one post, so as each one comes up I will contribute information about the sabbat leading up to the main event.
The next sabbat is Yule, you know yuletide greetings? It occurs on winter solstice, Dec. 21, the longest night of the year, and is a major sabbat, as it is at an equinox. It is a very interesting sabbat, so there will be much to write about.
