The Magnificence Of The 3, 6 and 9.

Nikola Tesla had said quite enigmatically, “If you only knew the magnificence of the 3, 6 and 9, then you would have a key to the universe.”

The way I see it - 3 is action, stepping towards building. 6 is clarity, as in where the action is leading us to. It is now known where we are going. 9 is a finished cycle of action. What we were building has now been reached.

So let's bring the significance of The 3, 6 and 9 into sharper contrast working through each number consecutively.

Three (3)

The third dimension - we do things in threes so they will manifest in our physical realm.

It’s roots stem from the meaning of multiplicity. Creative power; growth. Three is a moving forward of energy, overcoming duality, expression, manifestation and synthesis. Three is the first number to which the meaning “all” was given. It is The Triad, being the number of the whole as it contains the beginning, a middle and an end.

The power of three is universal and is the tripartide nature of the world as heaven, earth, and waters. It is human as body, soul and spirit. Notice the distinction that soul and spirit are not the same. They are not. Three is birth, life, death. It is the beginning, middle and end. Three is a complete cycle unto itself. It is past, present, future.

The symbol of three is the triangle. Three interwoven circles or triangles can represent the indissoluble unity of the three persons of the trinity. Other symbols using three are: trident, fleur-de-lis, trefoil, trisula, thunderbolt, and trigrams.

The astral or emotional body stays connected to the physically body for three days after death. There is scientific evidence that the brain, even when all other systems are failing takes three days to register complete shutdown.

There are 3 phases to the moon. Lunar animals are often depcited as 3 legged.

Three is the heavenly number, representing soul, as four represents body. Together the two equal seven (3+4=7 ) and form the sacred hebdomad. The 3x4=12 representing the signs of the Zodiac and months of the year.

Pythagorean three means completion.

There are three wishes, genies have three wishes, three leprecons, three prince or princesses, three witches, three weird sisters among others.

Egyptian: Hermetic tradition, Thoth is the Thrice Great, ‘Trismegistus’. The Supreme Power.

The opening line of the Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean

Tablet 11

Three is the mystery, come from the great one,
Hear, and light on thee will dawn.
In the primeval dwell three unities,
Other than these none can exist.
These are the equilibrium, source of creation,
One God, One Truth, One Point of Freedom.
Three come forth from the three of the balance,
All Life, all Good, all Power.
Three are the qualities of God in his light-home
Infinite Power, Infinite Wisdom, Infinite Love.
Three are the circles (or states) of Existence:
The Circle of Light where dwells nothing but God,
and only God can traverse it,
The Circle of Chaos where all things by nature arise from Death,
The Circle of Awareness where all things spring from Life.
All things animate are of three states of existence,
Chaos or death, liberty in humanity, and felicity of Heaven.

There is an ancient wisdom that’s says; ‘Messages or events that come in three’s are worth noticing. 'Whenever anything is mentioned three times it is a witness to us that these things are of utmost importance.

Three symbolizes manifestation into the physical. It is the triangle - pyramid shape in the vesica pisces.

Six (6)

Six represents equilibrium; harmony - balance. It is the perfect number within the decad: 1+2+3=6. It is the most productive of all numbers.

It symbolizes union of polarity, the hermaphrodite being represented by the two interlaced triangles, the upward- pointing as male, fire and the heavens, and the downward-pointing as female, the waters and the earth.

Six is the symbol of luck; love; health; beauty; chance. It is a winning number at the throw of the dice in the West.

Be yourself, be free, be completely unashamed... be the witch you want to be in any form that takes...
Have you ever really wanted something...and it actually happened? I stopped believing in coincidence long ago, as a witch the key is having confidence in yourself that you can affect the world around you. What is good luck? Maybe it wasn't luck at all but something given to you when you needed it... have confidence, try and center your thoughts, think of something you want, really believe you can do it... and make it happen.
What draws you to witchcraft? Tradition? Nostalgia? Curiosity? What makes you a witch is how you perceive the craft, there is no rule book with steps and how-to's... despite those who try to tell you there is an sell you one...
If being a witch is all in your head, that is perfectly fine, witchcraft doesn't have to cost you a penny, this is the beauty of traditional witchcraft.
No need to buy expensive candles, mats, or a bag of crystals, if they make you feel spiritual, and you like them, then go for it...
But anyone can buy things from a store... a true witch uses what comes from within, everything else is extra...
Witchcraft isn't just for women, contrary to popular belief. Men are some of the primary founders of witchcraft, and are major contributors to witchcraft surviving the ages...
Witch is not a female term. Witchcraft embraces the balance of men and women together, each with their own strengths and benefits to the nature of the craft. In modern witchcraft there are many men involved, and proud to do so. As witchcraft is based heavily in both astrology and nature, male and female representations in rituals and writings are very important. Witchcraft is not feminism, both sexes are balanced and equally important to each other. From human to human contact, to animal worship, and the forms of many of the pagan deities...
In witchcraft women and men share an equal platform, and are both witches all the same...
Do you use a pendulum? As I mentioned in a previous post, witchcraft doesn't have to cost you a thing, that doesn't mean though that certain tools aren't helpful...
I personally own a crystal pendulum, and I use it quite often, but there is no need to go buy divination mats and expensive accessories, or even expensive pendulums... everything you need if you want to divine, you can make yourself. A pendulum need only be a weighted small object on the end of a string or chain, make one in nature using nuts or stones, or go to a bead store and make your very own with a pendant...
I don't use a divining mat, and I actually wouldn't suggest buying a commercially printed one, as there is nothing special about it. If you want something to divine above, I suggest melting wax on a wood tree slice, a wide piece of driftwood, or a medium sized flat stone. Etch your own inscriptions and answers into the wax, using whatever format is in your mind, and watch your results improve. You can add paint or ink to the grooves in order to see the markings better. Always remember being a witch is about what is in your mind and body... let your instincts flow.
Never tried a spell? It's not as complicated as you may think...
Sure some famous ones have massive rituals and steps, and can even require multiple people, but it doesn't have to be that hard.
Think of something you want to have happen, don't try something major, start small, concentrate... really want it, you can say it out loud or in your head, and repeat it until you believe it. You aren't trying to convince someone else, you have to convince you...
White spell: I really want mom to feel better tomorrow, heal, relax, you will be fine, your headaches will not bother you tomorrow...
Dark spell: Make "boy/girl" speak to me tomorrow, or run into me, so I can talk to them about... or hear what they have to say...
Try it, believe it, and make it happen...
I am starting a series of ancient witchcraft posts which will include old spells and rituals, writings, and images. These are the true basics of traditional witchcraft. They will often be written in old English, so some words may seem odd, but usually old English is written phonetically, so what the word sounds like in modern English is often the meaning... Hope you enjoy!
Ancient Witchcraft Post 1:
"The Discoverie of Witchcraft" Chapter 7
Inchantments pluke out of the skie,
The moone, though she be plaste on hie,
Dame Circus with hir charms so fine,
Ulysses mates did turn to swine:
The snake with charms is burst in twaine,
In medowes, where she dooth remaine.
These herbs did Meris give to me,
And poisons pluckt at Pontus,
For there they growe and multiplie,
And doo not so amongst us.
With these she made hir self become,
A wolf, and hid hir in the wood,
She fecht up soules out of their toome,
Removing corne from where it stood.
What do you think this means? It is a very dark writing about witches in the 1600's, as an insight to the witches ways...
Ancient Witchcraft Post 2: A Love Spell
This is a spell taken from a document written in 1605 in a compendium about witchcraft, spells, and rites...
With Thessal charmes and not by fate,
Hot love is forced for to flowe,
Even where before hath been debate,
They cause affection for to growe.

As this is a spell that involves the will of other people, this is a dark spell, so if you ever choose to use it, be aware of this.
This spell is meant to create passion and love with someone else, or between two specific people, even if you/they have been fighting or arguing. This is a very old spell, so use with care.
As far as a ritual for it goes, you can make it what you want with whatever tools and symbolic items you feel are most relevant to you (pendulums, crystals, items relating to the person the spell is directed at, candles, etc.).
If you are going to try this, I would recommend performing it within a protective circle if possible out of chalk, salt, twigs and branches, or a red string.
Do you like art? One of my true favourite artists of all time is John William Waterhouse. His paintings are gorgeous, no matter what is in them, but did you know that many of his paintings were of witches? Not just one or two, man of his most famous pieces depict beautiful women performing witchcraft.
I will post the best version I can find of some of his works on here as I find them, art can be like a book if you look long enough...
Circe offering the cup to Ulysses- John William Waterhouse
Another piece of art... and a very famous one too
The Magic Circle- John William Waterhouse
"A magic circle was cast to purify and create a perimeter of space wherein evil magic could not enter. Goddesses and good spirits were invited into the circle, which sometimes had powerful, protective stones placed at North, South, East, and West points. Each point was associated with the Four Elements. North was the most powerful direction. It represented the element of Earth, the celestial bodies revolving around the North Star, and encompassed all secrets, darkness, and the unknown. South was the element of Fire and therefore associated with the sun. This point signified the meeting of East and West - intuition, insight, reason, and logic - and the channeling of the powers of intellect, clairvoyance, and nature. East was the direction for the element of Air, symbolizing clarity, spiritual awareness, and mysticism. West represented imagination and inspiration, as well as emotions and reason. The circle itself was a mark of infinity and eternity.
A witch would cast a magic circle by turning clockwise, beginning at East, following the revolution of the sun. The magic circle was drawn with either a a magic wand or an anthame (a black-handled ceremonial dagger). A charm or spell was recited as the witch cast the circle, asking the presence of friendly or helpful spirits to attend." - Witches (1999), Lori Eisenkraft
Some history about witchcraft...
Here are some historical items housed at the Bosworth Castle, Museum of Witchcraft and Magik in Cornwall UK, take a look at them, as some of these items are very old. It's a very interesting and wise practice to look at old texts and tools, to better interpret the ways of old. Gerald Gardener, the founder of Wiccan witchcraft, attended this museum many times and was a contributor to the current collection.
Here is the link for their website, and they also have a Facebook page you can like and follow. There are hundreds of pictures of their collection on the website, and it is well worth a look...

The wheel of the year...a calendar of the 8 sabbats and their astrological associations, and a celebration of the seasons...
Familiar with it?
While the actual layout of the wheel of the year is relatively modern, the sabbats are not, especially the 4 major ones Beltane, Litha, Samhain, and Yule.
In history all 8 sabbats were not always celebrated, sometimes only the main 4, or those plus the addition of the 2 harvest sabbats Lughnasadh and Mabon that lead up to Samhain.
The sabbats are specials times of the year that represent the changing of the seasons, and the activities associated with that time of year.
There is far to much to write about to break them all down in one post, so as each one comes up I will contribute information about the sabbat leading up to the main event.
The next sabbat is Yule, you know yuletide greetings? It occurs on winter solstice, Dec. 21, the longest night of the year, and is a major sabbat, as it is at an equinox. It is a very interesting sabbat, so there will be much to write about.
Skyclad: Performing rituals and witchcraft completely bare with the exception of jewellery and ritual items (a crown, scarf, veil, etc...)
Nudity is an interesting part of witchcraft (obviously not so practical for modern witchcraft, unless you're performing a ritual at home and want to try it), many old texts, pictures, woodcuts, drawings, and paintings depict and describe witches in the nude.
Traditional lore describes that on midnight witches sabbaths (not sabbat) witches would congregate together and apply a special witches ointment to their bare backs which is what gives them the magical ability to fly on their brooms to the celebration.
At a witches sabbath or gathering, witches would dance around the fire, and perform any spells or rituals completely naked.
Some witches today still perform skyclad rituals in the comfort of their home, to keep with tradition, and for the original purpose to remove any impediments between oneself and the spirits they are connecting with.
Witches are known for being deep rooted naturalists, so it makes perfect sense that in history much of witchcraft was performed in this "natural" human state. Witches of old never cared about how their bodies looked, wrinkles, loose tummies, scars, and dirt... they danced around like no one was watching, total freedom of mind and body.

(a note on the photos below, I have included an old illustration as well as the modern photograph of a skyclad witch at a real place in England- I thought this was neat)
Let's talk tarot...
This an area I am really not well versed in, but I know some of us are. Tarot is mystic card reading, fortune telling, and a form of divination. It dates back centuries, and reading cards has been a common practice for witches (also sometimes known as gypsies... these two trades cross paths often), and there are many methods of doing it. There are many many kinds of decks available, some new, some classic, and some very old. And from what I've gathered, each one offers their own unique benefits. Cards can have character, and while two decks may be the same type, a deck with age and character can "behave" very differently...
For those of us who are far better versed on this subject than I am, please feel free to contribute in the comments, your thoughts, knowledge, and experiences!
Witchcraft, demonology, and the dark side of the craft...
While dark witchcraft, spirits, and demonology, isn't for all practicing witches, there is no denying it's existence throughout the history of witchcraft. An important thing to note here is that connections with the dead, calling to demons, and engaging dark craft are not considered EVIL practices, nor is it Satanism.
Witchcraft and Satanism can go hand-in-hand if you study Satanic-Witchcraft, and even then it is still not the study of all things evil. Satanism is actually a very humanist view of the world, a study of all things at the basics of human nature, and worship of Lucifer/Satan/The Baphomet.
In traditional witchcraft practice however, talking to the dead and connecting with spirits, calling to specific demons, and practicing dark craft are a major part of what the culture is built on. Human bones in witches brews, animal sacrifice (both in history...not today), graveyard ceremonies...it's all written in the history of the craft.
Dark witchcraft and worship is not specifically calling to demons and the dead, more so creating spells (prayers) & rituals (worships) involving other people, either present or as the subject of the spell/ritual. Most love spells would be considered dark witchcraft as they involve the will of others, other spells include spells to change a persons mind, for yourself or someone else to get/not get something, forgetfulness of others...etc. These are not sinister by any means, but do involve other people, this is why they are considered dark.
Demonology is a huge part of traditional witchcraft, but did you know not all demons are bad? "Demon" has very negative connotations associated with it, but some of the oldest demons recorded in old witchcraft texts, show a different side of true-demons...Here is a good example:
"Buer is a president of hell and a demon of the second order who commands 50 legions. His form is that of a five-branched star or wheel, and he moves by rolling himself. Buer teaches philosophy, logic, and herbal medicine He is also skilled in curing the sick and giving good servants." - (see photo below, taken from deliriumsrealm.com)
Even today witches in gypsy craft, traditional craft, Egyptian, you name it... are called on (and sometimes hired...a practice I don't really agree with) to connect with the spiritual world and the dead. For centuries this has been one of witches main calling cards, if you were not looking for a curse, love spell, or healing, you were trying to connect with a spirit (for good or bad). Many witches both in history and today consider themselves varying degrees of psychic or clairvoyant, or in modern terms a medium who can connect with spirits. Talking to the dead is not bad, and it is not evil. It is merely a spiritual connection between those who are here, and only partially here, through various energies.
Any one of these subjects, could (any have) get a book written on them, so this is just a quick overview to spark some thought...
So whether this type of witchcraft is something you stay far away from, or only partially take on, it is all just history and a good part of what all forms of witchcraft are built on...
Here is a link for a very interesting website about demons (direct link to the one I wrote about), for those who are unaware of their history, and maybe curious to know a bit more...

Buer, the 10th spirit, is a President who appears in Sagittary, and that is his shape when the Sun is there.

Yuletide Greetings Post part 2 coming tomorrow...
Here are some Yuletide decorations, it's great to come up with your own ideas, but these are some good ones to get you started. I thought these were some really pretty ideas...
What ideas do you have?
Witches Sabbats Post 1: Yuletide Greetings Part 1
Have you ever celebrated Yule (Dec. 21/22)? Better known as Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, Yule is the root of most Christmas traditions of the modern day.
Holly at Christmas is a lovely decoration, but why do we use it? Same with mistletoe, wreaths, ivy, and many other nature-based decorations, they come from pagan/witchcraft traditions
At Yule, the Holly King, takes over the dark half of the year from the Oak King (god of light, horned god, sun god, green man, Cernnunos...he has many names)... and that is just the beginning of how that exchange goes (more on this to come).
Think carefully about the lyrics of the well known holiday song "The Holly and the Ivy", "of all the trees that are in the wood, the Holly bears the crown...")

To be continued...
What are your Yuletide traditions?
Many of us collect crystals. As tumbled stones, pendulums, jewellery, raw cuts, or slices...
What are some of your favourite crystals and why? If you have pics you want to share, that's great as well.
PS. Because it looks pretty, and I just love this one, are very acceptable answers...
Witches Sabbats Post 1: Yuletide Greetings part 2
At every summer's end, the Holly King fought and won a battle with the Oak King for the rulership of the year, and reigned supreme over the dark season. At the end of the winter, another battle was fought, this time won by the Oak King, who ruled triumphantly over the summer months.
Lore has is that this occasion was reenacted on Yule and summer solstice every year in ancient pagan communities with chosen males who played the part of the Holly and Oak Kings, a battle would commence, and the predetermined loser would be sacrificed at the end of the ceremony.
A little dark yes, but history nonetheless, and just because it is not so cheery, doesn't mean it should be cast from our knowledge. Out past has a dark and bloody history, this is just a fact, luckily we have moved past these practices and Yule is now a highly cheerful and joyous annual tradition.
To be continued...
Awesome new album out from one of my favourite composers Peter Gundry, check him out if you haven't already. Lots of beautiful enchanted music, he is pagan, so all his music is very magical and witchcraft themed...Enjoy!
Final Super Moon of the Triad of Supermoons this year, and on top of this, it coincides with the Geminid Meteor Shower, so those of us with proper visibility should be in for a real treat... Make sure you take advantage of this magical night for all it's glory.
The full moon of Dec. 13 takes place when the moon is at its closest point of approach in its orbit around Earth — a so-called supermoon. This is the third…

Hey everyone! If you get a chance, check out this video :) it's about herb/natural magic and it's really relaxing. Definitely old school but it kinda reminds me of Bob Ross but with magic instead of painting.
I'm sure some of you are probably familiar with his famous Wicca books as well, plus his various other metaphysical books.. He's a smart dude! Anyways, enjoy. <3

Some of us may know that ABRACADABRA is not just a phrase for parlor trick magicians, it is actually extremely old and should not be a phrase treated so lightly...
Articles and Documents on Witchcraft:
Here is an undergraduate paper written presented at the National Conference of Undergraduate Research. A very interesting article on witchcraft, women, and medicine in the past.

Yuletide Trimmings:
It's not easy decorating for the 12 days of Yule at Christmas, many things are close but not quite right, so it is left up to us to create our own holiday decor to make our homes feel pleasant and seasonal, while sticking to tradition...
For the crafty amongst us, here's some decoration ideas I've put together for you (some simple, some take a true crafter), but I thnk there is something for everyone here... Feel free to take these ideas and come up with something completely new! They are the best anyway... When gifting on Yule, hand-crafted items made with love and care from natural materials is the most traditional way to gift.
